Why play?
Play is both powerful and empowering.
PLAY ISN’T JUST FOR CHILDREN

For us play means being creative in our approach. Not being afraid to step away from the ordinary and to tackle challenges in alternative ways.
Because nothing lights up the brain like play. When we play, others want to join. When we play, we learn. When we play, we live.
Harnessing play for sustainability offers a perfect environment to explore, experiment and learn in a different way, whilst simultaneously developing competencies that are key to dealing with our increasingly complex world.
Play at Co-CREATE ImpACT means using serious games, LEGO® Serious Play®, humour, improvisation, role play, collaborative exercises and more to engage, energise and empower people to champion sustainability.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has 5Ps – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnerships. If there was a sixth P it should be Play.

Play brings people together → Strengthening team collaboration and trust needed to move forward
Shared play experiences create deeper connections, improving cooperation, reducing silos, and fostering a culture of collaboration and trust.
Play enhances interaction → Improving communication skills needed to deal with our complex world
Playing with others requires many different types of exchange including clear instructions, open sharing. effective negotiation, careful listening and awareness of body language and non-verbal cues.
Play helps change perspectives → Unlocking the creativity needed to generate solutions
Play helps teams break out of rigid thinking and see challenges from fresh angles, leading to smarter ideas and new approaches.
Play pushes boundaries → Sparking the bold action needed to do things differently
Play enables people to step out of their comfort zones and to take risks, leading to new experiences and valuable lessons that can lead them to take bolder actions.
Play fosters ‘can-do’ attitudes → Nurturing confidence needed to be a starting point for change
Play offers people the opportunity to practice overcoming challenges in a safe environment, supporting an “I can” mentality and believe in their potential and ability to achieve goals.
